Why and What
I'm taking this theatrical makeup class for a couple reasons:
- I have to take this class for my major.
- I love the artistry involved with creating makeup looks.
I think theatrical makeup is a form of visual communication. It allows one to instantly show who they are, whether it's a poor, dirty, emaciated child, or an oily, hairy old man. Theatrical makeup can accent a costume while finishing an entire character. It's generally more intensive than screen and street makeup, but they all allow an outsider to lean about the person with the made up face.
